Philosophy

TDsoccer follows LTPD (Long Term Player Development)

Many academies, coaches and instructors make the mistake of what is termed over-coaching. This is where the players are told what the mistakes are and shown corrections. This “stop, look at me, this is how you do it” type of coaching is not demonstrated by TDsoccer. At TDsoccer we embrace mistakes and view a mistake as a learning opportunity, we encourage players to learn from mistakes. We encourage players to find a solution to the problem by them `selves.  We may help them and guide them, but we won`t tell them the answer, we want the players to discover the answers by them`selves. This is what is termed a guide and discover mistake based learning culture, which we implement at TDsoccer.

We don`t do drills! Another misconception that is made is that in order to develop technical ability you need to perform very repetitive structured drills. At this early age these players will soon become bored and lose interest. Soon the kids will be saying “Can we play a game”. We say “If they want to play, let them play”.

TDsoccer uses the game as the teacher. At least 80% of every TDsoccer session will be spent simply playing the game. We never stop the game to give instructions. Players will be coached “on the fly” to avoid the game being stopped. The game belongs to the kids, we are there to simply facilitate, encourage and suggest possible alternatives.

Take a look at the above video which encapsulates the type of environment we provide at each and every TDsoccer session.
